Better than the box.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup wild rice combo
  • 1 3/4 cup water
  • Nutritional yeast
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Dried parsley (or other herbs to taste, like chives)
  • Salt (any is fine but mineral is best)
  • Pepper

Directions:

  1. Rinse rice and then add rice and water to a pot with a tight fitting lid. You can make more rice, just keep the ratio the same as above.
  2. Once water is boiling, add nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, dried parsley, salt, and pepper. You need to add more of all of these than you think, but you absolutely need to put in what feels like way too much nutritional yeast. You can always smell the rice to see if you want to add more of any of the ingredients. Stir to combine thoroughly.
  3. You can also add mushrooms at this point. We like them best cut up small.
  4. Cover and turn to low. Simmer for 45 minutes.
  5. After 45 minutes, turn off heat and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Stir before serving.
